In the latest from the nationally bestselling author of The Candy Cane Cupcake Killer, Phyllis Newsom returns with a blackberry and blueberry pie recipe that’s to die for…

It’s late summer in Weatherford, Texas and Mike Newsom’s childhood friend is sweltering in prison for a crime he claims he didn’t commit, murdering his wife. So instead of asking his mother to please stop investigating a murder, as he usually does, he asks her and Sam to please help his friend.

Danny Jackson, found guilty of beating his wife Roxanne to death at the ritzy hair salon where she works, was sentenced to prison for 30 years. His pleas of innocence fell on deaf ears, so it’s up to Phyllis to find what actually happened. She finds there are a lot of secrets and lies being told, and Roxanne was in the middle of them all.

Though Phyllis doesn’t want to get mixed up in another murder investigation, her son rarely asks for favors, and certainly not favors like this. She has to untangle the lies and comb out the facts to find what happened that dark night.

Includes recipes!

Do you have a historical fiction buff on your list? Sean Gabhann's HARPER'S DONELSON takes place during the Civil War--and what an exciting story it is! The first of his Shiloh Trilogy, this one will hook you and keep you reading long into the wee hours of the morning--and right now, it's only .99.

The first book of this Civil War trilogy begins in the winter of 1862, as the nation is being ripped apart, with both Federals and Rebels seeing no end in sight and hoping for victory.

Lieutenant James Harper, a junior officer in the Union army, aspires to command a company—but faces his dismal future at the hands of an officer who will vindictively do whatever he must to keep Harper at the bottom of the heap.

Katie Malloy, a young girl who has been sold by her father to the wily owner of a whorehouse, has settled into her new life as a saloon-girl—for the time being. She’s got big plans to get herself out of this predicament, and vows one day she’ll be more than the soldiers’ whore.

Corporal Gustav Magnusson, a young Quaker in Harper’s company, butts heads with Harper from the very beginning. But capture by the enemy forces them to work together to protect their men from sadistic Rebel Captain Bell—who wants nothing more than to see his Yankee prisoners dead.

Will General Grant’s campaign against Fort Donelson open the door for an ex-Federal Marshal, a Quaker farmer, and a soiled dove from Iowa to make their mark in the world—if they live through it?

Three lives intertwine against the backdrop of the battle which made Ulysses S. Grant’s reputation—a living hell where everything familiar fades, and the only thing that matters is surviving—however they can.

  2. This has been so much fun. I was glad Black and Blueberry Die was included in this sale. This book brings me so many happy memories of my parents. My mother was a teacher but before that she and my father ran a hair salon. I grew up in that shop and met many amazing people. And yes, people really do tell their hair stylist pretty much everything. LOL!

  4. As I was writing Hearts and Diamonds for the Cowboy Cravings collection, I just knew I had to continue Nick and Liberty's story--but to do that, I had to write two more stories about Nick's brothers! It's amazing what happens when you write something "short" and it turns into a whole other idea! (or two!)

  5. I was inspired to write Li’l Tom and the Pussyfoot Detective Bureau by one of my favorite areas in San Francisco, Telegraph Hill. It’s a magical place with its flowers, plants, trees, foliage, nooks, and crannies, not to mention the wild parrots who make it their home. Li’l Tom fancies himself to be the Sam Spade of cat detectives and prides himself on always finding a way to save the day. The book is for readers of all ages who love mystery, animals, and San Francisco.
