NEW CALLS FOR SUBMISSION AT PRP!

SIX GUNS AND PRAIRIE ROSES

PRAIRIE ROSE PUBLICATIONS CALL OUT FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR NEW WESTERN HISTORICAL LINE!

What happens when a hired gun is forced to save a damsel in distress? Or when an ex-lawman must pick up his six guns once more to stand between a “prairie rose” and outlaws when they come calling?

At PRAIRIE ROSE PUBLICATIONS, we are opening a call out for submissions for exciting stories like these! This new line, SIX GUNS AND PRAIRIE ROSES, will feature stories of men who are “gun handy” –– for better or worse—who come to the rescue of a woman in need, or in danger.

Does she readily accept his help—or is your heroine anything but a delicate flower looking for assistance? Is she from West Texas, or is she an Eastern socialite? Or could she be an immigrant from another country, making her way west?

Along the way, these lovers will find their own brand of romance (sweet to steamy) as danger lurks at every turn! Make us wonder if this couple is going to survive to see their HEA!

SETTING: Historical American West—west of the Mississippi River
TIME PERIOD: 1830-1899
HEAT LEVEL: Sweet, sensual, spicy, steamy—no erotica
WORD COUNT: 35K-70K

Please send your submissions to Cheryl Pierson for consideration at: fabkat_edit@yahoo.com

THE SWORD AND THE ROSE

PRAIRIE ROSE PUBLICATIONS CALL OUT FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR NEW MEDIEVAL ROMANCE LINE!

What happens when a knight is granted his own small keep, only to learn he must marry to hold it? Or when a young noble woman is faced with an ultimatum from her king—she’ll wed the man he chooses for her—even if he is a sworn enemy—or else!

At PRAIRIE ROSE PUBLICATIONS, we are opening a call out for submissions for action-filled stories like these. This new line, THE SWORD AND THE ROSE, will feature stories of mercenaries, knights, and noblemen—or other men of medieval times—who come to the rescue of a woman in danger. Though these lovers may not realize it or plan for it to happen, their circumstances will inevitably lead to a very happy-ever-after ending for both of them!

Does your heroine welcome your hero’s help, or is she determined to try to be independent—and hold things together without him? Is he a stranger to her, or someone she’s known from the past?

Somewhere along the way, the couple will find their own brand of romance (sweet to steamy) as danger lurks at every turn!
Make us wonder if this medieval couple is truly destined to enjoy their HEA!

HISTORICAL MEDIEVAL SETTING
HEAT LEVEL: Sweet, sensual, spicy, hot—no erotica

WOMEN OF DESTINY CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Do you have a story to tell about a very special heroine? One who defied the conventions of society to follow her dreams? Maybe your heroine aspired to become a doctor, or an attorney, or some other vocation that was most generally dominated by males. She may have been a woman who preached the gospel, or perhaps she was forced to take over the family business and keep it solvent during a time in our history when men ‘ran the show’ in these realms…and didn’t allow women to participate.

But sometimes, Fate has plans that won’t be altered, and these WOMEN OF DESTINY dream big—with Lady Luck as the wind in their sails, and grit and determination as their rudder, how can they be stopped? Add a good supporting hero in the mix, some unforeseen ups and downs (of course!) and an exciting tale of perseverance and true love is born!

These are just some of the ideas we’ve come up with for these special women and their very unusual success stories! If you have a historical heroine who is destined for an unconventional role in life—discovering love on the way—we’d like to invite you to submit to our new WOMEN OF DESTINY line at Prairie Rose Publications!

Stories will be set in the HISTORICAL time period of 1830-1899.
Primary setting of stories will be in the United States.
Romance? BUT OF COURSE! Any heat level, but please, no erotica.
Length: 50,000-90,000 words.
Open call for submissions immediately (7/21/18)—we look forward to seeing what wonderful creations you come up with!

NEW OR PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED WORK MAY BE SUBMITTED
Please send your submissions to Cheryl Pierson for consideration at: fabkat_edit@yahoo.com

LARIATS, LETTERS, AND LACE--VALENTINE'S DAY ANTHO. CALL FOR SUBMISSION--by Cheryl Pierson

In the days before the internet, people communicated by handwritten notes. Those who set out to tame the Wild West eagerly awaited letters from home in order to catch up with family goings-on. Who married? Who moved away? Who added a child to the clan? Letters brought great joy to separated sweethearts … and great pain to the families of fallen soldiers. Letters delivered comfort … and spoke of sorrow.

We’re looking for Valentine’s Day stories in which the hero and heroine are brought together by a letter. The missive needn’t be one of love, although it certainly could be. Let your imagination run wild. Perhaps she receives a note meant for someone else, or maybe he carries a dispatch across the country for a friend. Whatever the situation, the letter — and a little help from cupid — deliver a man and a woman into one another’s arms.

Send us your tale about a happily-ever-after Valentine's Day in the Old West. Manuscripts may have a heat level of sweet to spicy, but no erotica, please. Attach the completed manuscript to an email addressed to Cheryl Pierson at fabkat_edit@yahoo.com, and include a brief synopsis in the body of the email. All manuscripts should be in 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced. Please put LARIATS, LETTERS, AND LACE in the subject line.

We look forward to reading your story.

If you have questions, please e-mail me at prairierosepublications@yahoo.com or fabkat_edit@yahoo.com

Happy writing!

CALL OUT FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR A COWBOY CELEBRATION by Cheryl Pierson

PRAIRIE ROSE PUBLICATIONS CALL OUT FOR SUBMISSIONS--THERE'S STILL TIME!

A COWBOY CELEBRATION

Fireworks, fried chicken, and true love…

What kind of Fourth of July COWBOY CELEBRATION is going on at Prairie Rose Publications? Well, hold on to your Stetsons, cause we’re bringing out another hot-as-a-firecracker bunch of stories that take place on Independence Day!

This collection will contain some great Fourth of July stories for everyone, along with the mention of a “special recipe” in each story. Those very recipes will also be included in the back of the book! We had great success with this in the past—and this time, we’re looking for a tasty dish that might be taken to a Fourth of July picnic—truly, A COWBOY CELEBRATION! These will be western historical romance stories that have a happily-ever-after ending, just in time for an Independence Day release!

Rugged cowboys, daring heroines, and a Fourth of July holiday in the mix are a sure-fire way to get ready for a hot, hot summer!

Your story needs to include mention of a certain food, and the recipe will need to be included on a separate document for inclusion at the end of the book. Stories should be 10K-15K in length. Any heat level is fine for this anthology. (We do not publish erotica.)

Deadline is MAY 1, 2015. Submit to prairierosepublications@yahoo.com or fabkat_edit@yahoo.com
Our general submission guidelines can be found here: http://www.prairierosepublications.com/

We’re looking forward to reading the best summer love stories you can dream up with those heart-stopping cowboys, saucy heroines, and whatever
excitement you can create for them at A COWBOY CELEBRATION!

CALL OUTS FOR ANTHOLOGY SHORT STORIES--TORNADO ALLEY PUBLICATIONS by Cheryl Pierson

At TORNADO ALLEY PUBLICATIONS, we are always looking for submissions by talented new authors as well as seasoned authors who may have been in the business for a while! We publish all lengths of stories, from “single-sell” short stories to full-length novels, with the longer works being available in print, as well as e-book formats. From time to time, we also put out a call for submissions for short stories for themed anthologies.

This summer we have three anthologies we’re looking to fill, one for each of our age categories at TAP. TORNADO ALLEY PUBLICATIONS is an imprint of PRAIRIE ROSE PUBLICATIONS. Please take a look at the specific submission calls below and see if one or more of these might be of interest to you or someone you know. We’re very excited about these collections! Please feel free to forward!

MIDDLE GRADE READERS—(Ages 9-12)

MY DOG CAN DO MAGIC!—Middle Grade Readers—(ages 9-12)

Do you have a good idea for a fantasy or sci-fi story about a dog? That’s what we’re looking for in this anthology for MIDDLE GRADE READERS (9-12). If you have a story that tugs at the heartstrings or shows the excitement and bond in a relationship between a boy or girl and their dog, we’d love to see it! The possibilities are endless: a stray dog becomes a young girl’s best friend – but he’s got “something special” about him; a young boy is given a dog…though what he really wanted was a horse—or so he thought! These are just a couple of ideas, but your imagination is boundless with what “could be”. Dogs are magical anyhow, but in this collection, these dogs have a true bit of magic they’re able to use now and then! What magic will your dog have? Can he speak like a human? Does he sense trouble before it happens? Does he hold the key to saving the world? We’d love to have a look! Spots are limited! Please send a cover letter and blurb along with your submission.

YOUNG ADULT (Ages 13-17)

THIS SUMMER STORM—Young Adult—(Ages 13-17)

We’re looking for stories about summer storms. Hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning—anything nature can throw our way. Maybe your characters are trapped at sea during a squall; maybe they’re having to deal with a violent tornado and its aftermath. How will they cope?

But storm stories can also be about emotional storms—storms that come from family upheaval and changes that affect the characters and facilitate the need for resolution of some kind, or at least, the first steps of resolution.

Whichever kind of storm you choose to write about, we are anxious to see it! Please send a cover letter and blurb along with your submission. Keep in mind that these stories will be set in contemporary times.

SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2014
WORD COUNT GUIDELINE: 10K-12K
SUBMIT TO: prairierosepublications@yahoo.com

NEW ADULT (Ages 18-24)

IT COULD HAPPEN—New Adult—(Ages 18-24)

Summer love happens in the most unlikely places, to the most unlikely people. This anthology will be a collection of stories about characters that fall in love under odd circumstances. The young college girl who falls for a cruise ship entertainer; or a chauffeur, who falls for the daughter of his millionaire boss. It could be as simple as an odd coincidence, a stray glance or being caught in a summer downpour that sets the story in motion.

Common theme in all stories will be a photograph. Example: maybe your heroine is a celebrity of some kind and a photograph of her is on the front page of the paper; or maybe your hero sees a photograph on the heroine’s wall that was taken with her older brother—whom he mistakenly believes to be his “competition”. The photograph can play a major role or be mentioned in passing—it’s up to you however you want to use the photograph YOU imagine! It can play any part in this unlikely love story.

We are excited about this collection for a recently-recognized readership—new adults—ages 18-24. We’re anxious to see how your characters fall in love—and what they do about it! Please send a cover letter and blurb along with your submission. Keep in mind that these stories should be set in contemporary times.

PRAIRIE ROSE PUBLICATIONS CALL OUT FOR SUMMER ANTHOLOGIES

PRAIRIE ROSE PUBLICATIONS is open for submissions for stories for four summer anthologies in the historical western romance genre.

LASSOING A BRIDE: This collection of stories will be sweet/sensual. The stories selected for this anthology will have to do with a summer wedding, or courtship leading up to a wedding—by a bride who might not be so willing in the beginning. How is her intended going to “lasso” her and woo her to be his bride? That’s what we want to know, too! Word count for each selection will be around 10K, more or less. We want you to tell a good story and not worry if you run over the word count by a few words. Spots are limited!

LASSOING A GROOM: This collection of stories will be sweet/sensual. The stories selected for this anthology will have to do with a summer wedding, or courtship leading up to a wedding—by a groom who might not be so willing in the beginning. But as women all know, there’s more than one way to romance a man! Silken bonds and words of love can be just as binding as any lasso. Word count for each selection will be around 10K, more or less. We want you to tell a good story and not worry if you run over the word count by a few words. Spots are limited!

LASSOING A MAIL-ORDER BRIDE: This collection of stories will be sweet/sensual. The stories selected for this anthology will have to do with a summer wedding, or courtship leading up to a wedding—by a groom who needs a bride and is willing to order one by mail! What circumstances could lead to a man advertising for a bride, sight unseen—and a woman in such dire straits that she travels from her home and everything familiar to marry a man she doesn’t know? There are any number of situations that “might be”—and we’re waiting to see what can happen when love blossoms in the most unlikely circumstances! Word count for each selection will be around 10K, more or less. We want you to tell a good story and not worry if you run over the word count by a few words. Spots are limited!

COWBOY CRAVINGS: This collection of stories will be spicy/hot. The stories selected for this anthology will definitely take place in the heat of the summer and will feature some hot western men—cowboys, outlaws, lawmen—who will make not only the heroine but the reader crave the happily-ever-after outcome that’s sure to happen! What’s not to love about these strong, tough heroes or bad boys finally getting what THEY crave—a good woman to love! Word count for each selection will be around 10K, more or less. We want you to tell a good story and not worry if you run over the word count by a few words. Spots are limited!

SUBMISSIONS FOR ALL ANTHOLOGIES ARE DUE BY APRIL 15, 2014.
If you think you might have a story that would fit, please submit to Cheryl at: prairierosepublications@yahoo.com
