#NewRelease -- Gail L. Jenner's Prettiest Little Horse Thief and Kristy McCaffrey's A Westward Adventure

Gail L. Jenner's Prettiest Little Horse Thief

Rebecca Williams doesn’t need a man. One abusive husband was enough and now that she’s widowed, she resolves to make her own way in the world of horse trading – with only Shih-chai, her Navajo “grandfather,” as companion and hired hand.

Colt Ryman is a stranger who happens upon Rebecca after a cowboy-turned-thief assaults her. He finds himself captivated by the beautiful but stubbornly independent widow, and he determines to make her his own.

In the heat of the moment, and after Rebecca’s life and reputation are again threatened, the widow finds herself married to Colt Ryman. In spite of her protest, however, she comes to discover that this stranger is more husband than the late Frank Williams, and that love can sometimes, quite unexpectedly, have the power to heal.

Kristy McCaffrey's A Westward Adventure

Aspiring novelist Amelia Mercer travels from New York City to Colorado to help her injured aunt recover. When the stage is robbed and her luggage stolen, bounty hunter Ned Waymire comes to her aid, acquainted with the harmless culprit and wanting to spare the boy. But Ned also seeks to impress the independent young woman. Amelia's wish to never marry, however, clashes with Ned's desire to keep her reputation intact. When a final bounty from Ned's past threatens their future, she knows that A Westward Adventure isn’t just the title of her novel, but the new course of her life.

July Chandler doesn’t need another wife, but when Amanda Hoffman comes west as a “mail order bride” to marry him, sparks fly when she is hired to nurse his young son after an accident. Amanda suddenly finds she has other choices, but she only wants to become JULY'S BRIDE.

EXCERPT

“You can’t be serious,” grumbled Abe. He pulled off the apron he always wore when cooking for the boys on the ranch and dropped to the chair next to the plank table that filled the narrow kitchen. The apron had been Emma’s, and it always gave him a sense of her whenever he wore it. He folded it and set it on his lap.
“I am serious,” returned Gabriel, pulling up a chair on the other side of the table. “We need to find a bride for July. Someone who will make him happy again.”
“Again?” Abe mumbled. “I don’t think his marriage was a happy affair. That two-timing female only made him miserable.”
“Maybe, but she was beautiful—” Gabriel began.
“Beauty as thin as the ribbons on Emma’s old apron.” Abe fingered the remnant of a faded red ribbon that hung from the corner of his late wife’s well-worn apron.
Gabriel smiled. “Mrs. Harrison was a lovely woman. Not many men can be as blessed as you, Boss. But we can hope.”
Abe nodded. “Hope is what we live for, isn’t it?”
“Back to July,” said Gabriel. “He needs a bride. And Davie needs a mother.”
“But you can’t just order one up like you would a new piece of furniture. Love takes time—and opportunity,” said Abe.
Gabriel nodded. “Well, the opportunity has arrived. And the time is now. I ordered July a bride from Illinois. Pastor Edmonds has a list of eligible women needing husbands. She’s arriving in less than a week.”

Fired from her teaching position and with no other family on whom to rely, Mary believes Jericho Hawken is responsible for all her woes. Or is he what she’s been searching for all along?

It takes a lot of forgiveness and a few fireworks to realize that together their dreams can come true.

EXCERPT

He watched Mary’s throat work as she battled back tears that made her blue eyes seem huge in her pale face. When she squared her shoulders and lifted her chin, he knew his time for avoiding the truth was over.
“What happened, Mr. Hawken?”
Self-loathing threatened to choke him. “I’m not sure.”
She glanced at Matt, then returned her piercing gaze to Jericho. “I don’t understand. Did it happen at night? Was it too dark for you to see?”
He gulped down the liquid in his glass and carefully set the crystal aside when he wanted to hurl it against the stone hearth. “I wasn’t there.”
“Where—”
“I was in jail.”

PRP New Release -- Witness on the Run by Lois Carroll -- Free Giveaway

Lois is giving away a free e-copy of Witness On The Run to one lucky person who comments on this blog.

BLURB:
Maggie Beauchamp runs from her stepfather's abuse, only to fear for her life when the Arizona stagecoach she is riding on is robbed. She rescues Cord Martin, who was shot during the robbery. The townsfolk think they are man and wife, not the strangers they are. Perfect. Now Maggie can hide from her past under a new name, and Cord can get the bedside care he needs. But when she identifies a robber she sees in town, Maggie sets into motion a chain of events that puts both their lives in jeopardy again.

What will happen if her past catches up with her? Can they resist temptation as they masquerade as man and wife--and for how long?

EXCERPT:
Alone and more frightened that she'd ever been, Maggie ducked down and ran along the boulders until she found an opening between them that was wide enough for her to slip in and hide. Her heart was beating so hard and fast that she was certain it would burst. She bit down on her bent finger to keep from crying out in terror. With her back flat against the rock, she listened to the shouts and laughter as the Indians did God only knew what. As the shouting lessened, she heard the team's harnesses clank loudly as if they had been dropped on the ground. Several bangs and cracks had to be the trunks and wooden boxes of goods that the coach had carried on top crashing to the ground.
Maggie concentrated on breathing slower through her mouth to keep from making any noise. She didn't dare look over the rock again, but even without giving her location away, she was certain the savages would find her. If only she had a pistol! If they found her, she would wish she were dead.
More hoots and laughter ensued until, suddenly, horses were galloping away. But as quickly as they started to leave, there was shouting, and the horses stopped. Two of the Indians sounded as if they were having an argument. The rest of their words were muffled by the sounds the horses made. A third authoritative voice quickly settled whatever they had disagreed on. The horses took off away from the coach once again. She thought they went in the direction the coach had been heading.
The silence of the desert returned. Maggie didn't need to look to know that they had taken the team of horses that had pulled the coach. She was left alone in the Arizona desert with no way to get to safety that was miles away.
