While this recipe isn't what I'd classify as old fashioned, I was a young whippersnapper when my mom first made it, so it does have some age on it. ;-)
This makes a great dessert for any meal, but it's particularly yummy for breakfast straight from the oven. I usually make this with canned cherries, but peaches are just about as tasty.

Thank you so much! I'll try this recipe when my sister is inundated by fruit from her apple tree.
ReplyDeleteC.A. Ooh. Fresh apples might be really tasty in this recipe.
DeleteYummy. When I still ate products made with wheat, I loved dishes like this.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the greatest regrets in my life is the loss of my great grandmother's oatmeal cake recipe. I've never seen it replicated, and I never got it right when I tried.
Thanks for sharing these great recipes. Doris
Doris,
DeleteFunny story: My husband had an aunt who was known for her baking and cooking skills. Whenever she was asked for her recipe for something she'd taken to a potluck or funeral dinner, she'd gladly share her recipe, but she'd always leave out an ingredient or alter the amounts of ingredients before giving the person the recipe. "Aunt Maude" didn't want anyone to out do her. She was a stinker. ;-)
Delicious! What a fantastic treat.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Happy Easter and holidays!
Lindsay,
DeleteYou're welcome, and Happy Easter to you, too.
