Linda Broday Introduces the Bachelors of Battle Creek!

Sometimes a series comes along that you just know you have to write. Bachelors of Battle Creek is one of those.

The bonds formed in an orphanage are lasting and deep.

Three ragged boys slip from their beds and, by the light of the moon, prick their thumbs and declare themselves brothers. Several years later, they escape an orphan train and run for their lives. Through the years they stand together, shoulder to shoulder, facing whatever comes. Their bond is unbreakable.

As men, each for their own reasons, they vow to never marry. The pain of their horrific pasts runs too deep.

Cooper Thorne is the oldest at 29 and has taken on the role of protector even though they’re all adults now. If anyone tried to harm Rand or Brett, they’ll have to go through him and will find that a tough job because he’ll go through hell and keep on going until he comes out the other side. He can count on one hand the people he cares about and his loyalty to them goes bone-deep. He’s become a fearless fighter. Men who’ve crossed him have lived to regret it. The stripes on his back prove that he may bend, but he doesn’t break. He’s a rancher and owns the Long Odds Ranch.

Rand Sinclair is the middle brother. This 27 year old always wears a grin—even then he’s landing a punch to your jaw. It would be a big mistake to think that his fun-loving nature makes him soft. He can be a ferocious competitor. Though he owns a saloon called Lily of the West, he longs to be a rancher one day like Cooper and Brett. His family of brothers mean everything to him. Because so many people have walked out of his life he’s sealed off his heart. He can’t afford to trust again. He won’t.

Brett Liberty is the baby of the bunch at 24 and a half-breed. He’s the product of a white father and Indian mother. He walks between two worlds and fits in neither. He was only eight-years-old when he escaped the orphan train with Cooper and Rand. He was left on the orphanage steps when he was only weeks old. Though raised with the whites, he finds no welcoming arms except in the town of Battle Creek, Texas. He knows nothing of his Native American heritage, not even which tribe he comes from. He’ll never ask a woman to share this limbo he’s in. He finds peace only on his Wild Horse Ranch where he rounds up and gentles mustangs.

Book One of this series is TEXAS MAIL ORDER BRIDE that releases on January 6, 2015.

Cooper Thorne thinks his life is finally on an even keel – until a woman steps off the stagecoach, claiming to be the bride he sent for. He doesn’t know who’s behind the joke, but he isn’t laughing. He quickly sets her straight and offers to give her money to return where she came from.

Delta Dandridge will never return to Cedartown, Georgia. Finding herself penniless and spurned by the rancher, she digs deep inside for the grit that’s carried her through life. Battle Creek is a nice place and she’s staying right where she is, whether this sets well with Cooper Thorne or not. The dying little town and its people need her and she needs them.

Brash and quick-witted, the meddling Southern Belle is everything Cooper thought he never wanted…and everything his heart is telling him he needs.

Then demons from his past return to threaten everything…and everyone…he holds dear. He knows this will be a fight he can’t afford to lose. He’ll gladly give his life to protect the woman who’s stolen his heart and given him a reason for living.

I hope you’ll like this story of love and hope and forgiving yourself. You can preorder now.

Book Two, TWICE A TEXAS BRIDE, will release in May. This is Rand's story.

Here is the book trailer. Enjoy!

    1. Hi Tanya! I'm glad you enjoyed my book video. Thanks for your congrats on the series. I do think all three of my brothers who aren't really brothers know how to fill a page. Each one is so different and has his own special story. When they sauntered across my mind in their special way I just knew I had to write this series.

    1. Hi Kirsten.......I'm glad my Bachelors caught your fancy. They did have so much to offer a woman but they had to be convinced. Slowly...just a little at a time. It was a lot like courting. LOL!

Ooh, a cowboy series, a mail-order bride, AND heroes with issues (love the orphanage slant). I'm looking forward to reading these stories, ;-)

  6. Wow, Linda. I love the premise of this book. Three blood brothers, the orphan train. I did a little research on the orphan trains that rolled through Iowa. The children were treated much like you were purchasing a farm animal. Their little limbs checked and teeth, much like you would when buying a horse or prized bull. It is wonderful you give a bit of history of the trials and tribulations of life back then.
